LSC proposes to award grants to programs in order to serve every county in the United States; the District of Columbia; the U.S. territories (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam); and an area that includes the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.
What is a Service Area?
LSC has defined three types of service areas: Basic Field-General, Basic Field-Native American, and Basic Field-Migrant.
Service Areas in Competition
In accordance with LSC’s multi-year funding policy, competitive grant applications for calendar year 2013 funding will be accepted only for specified service areas. Please note that the grants process for 2012 funding has concluded.
You may also click on a state in the table below to see the service areas in the state, and the year competitive grant funds will be available for each service area. There you will also find a description of the geographic area for each service area in the state.
LSC will publish the service areas in competition for 2013 funding in the Federal Register on or around March 15, 2012.
